Dear Parents/carers,

Following the Governments latest advice to people who may be infected with COVID-19 to self-isolate with their whole household for 14 days, and for vulnerable people to minimise social contact for 12 weeks or more, Heronsgate no longer has the staff needed to have all students in school. Therefore, we have reluctantly taken the decision that from Thursday 19th March, Heronsgate will be closed to all Year 4 pupils. Work will be set via Showbie and One Drive for students who have access to a PC/tablet and the internet.

Special arrangements are available for children of NHS workers who are unable to make other arrangements for their children to be looked after. If this applies to your family, please send your child to school tomorrow as usual and email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.so we know to expect them.

Although the school is open to Years 3, 5 & 6, as mentioned in Update 3 sent via ParentMail yesterday, we believe parents should decide whether it is appropriate for their children to attend school given their health and family circumstances. Leave a message on the school absence line and we will arrange for work to be sent to them via Showbie and One Drive.

At these very difficult times we would really appreciate your support in reducing the numbers of queries to the school unless urgent. If your child is absent please either email the school or leave a message on the absence line stating the name of your child, class and the reason of absence, please make it clear if you intend for them to self-isolate for 14 days.

As previously stated, as advice from government changes, we are continually reviewing our own practice to promote the health and well-being of the school community. We will of course continue to regularly update you regarding any changes to this situation and appreciate your continued support.

It is only a matter of time before all schools are instructed to close by the Government. However, even during the period of closure that may last weeks or even months, we will continue to support our students wellbeing as well as doing our best to ensure the children receive good education.

Kind regards

Mrs J Edwards
